How restorative landscapes can benefit psychological and physiological responses: a pilot study of human–nature relationships in Sweden and Taiwan

Restorative landscapes provide people with the opportunity to experience nature. This pilot study aimed determine whether cultural differences affect psychological and physiological responses restorative landscapes. Two populations, one in Taiwan Sweden, were experimentally compared by showing them photos of from each country. The results showed that restorativeness was affected more landscape Sweden than Taiwan. terms affected. A significant variation heart rate observed between populations: Taiwanese participants experienced higher rates when viewing unfamiliar novel scenery Swedish participants. No populations regarding attention capacity, working memory, muscle tension. two countries’ distinctive may have implications for designing such urban green spaces.
